yes i know i have made a thread before

well yesterday I decided to sell my monitor to a friend whose died on him

and so i am temporarly back to my old school CRT
and i am looking to get a new monitor that is in the sub $200 range
I am looking at this one

looking for input

That monitor is okay, but these days spending a little bit more to get 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 and a 24" higher quality screen if really worth spending a bit more. I have a friend that has this monitor:

and he loves it. It's $300, so it is 50% more expensive than the other one, but you will be much happier with it, I promise. If your computer can't do some games at 1920x1080 you can always reduce them to 1680x1050 and use your video cards scaling to keep the aspect ratio correct.

I own the more expensive 2408WFP - Dell's customer support, warranty, etc. is excellent and I highly recommend purchasing from them. You should check out their 22" monitors as well, perhaps they have something that is closer to your price range that might be better than that Viewsonic.

well what is wrong with viewsonic-
I am not looking for a monitor that i will have forever, I am looking for one that is descent and will last me through college, cause after college i will probably go for the gold and get a really good one
